About Peach
Peach, #ffe5b4, is orange diluted with cream — named for the inside of the fruit, not the blushing skin. It is the most flattering ambient color in design: photographers and makeup artists both know peach light makes every face look rested.
History
Peach ruled Art Deco boudoirs (peach mirrors were manufactured specifically to flatter reflections), returned in 1980s Miami pastels, and again in the 2010s as “peach fuzz” gradients across app stores. Pantone crowned Peach Fuzz its 2024 color of the year.
Psychology
Peach is warmth without demand — comfort, hospitality and gentle optimism. It carries orange’s friendliness at candlelight intensity, which is why hospitality and beauty brands soak in it.
In design
Peach makes superb hero-section washes and gradient partners (peach→coral→violet is the eternal sunset). Its text prospects are hopeless (1.3:1 on white) — it is atmosphere, not information. Pair with terracotta, sage, cream and gold.
In culture
Peaches and cream, peachy keen, Georgia’s state fruit, and an emoji with a double life: peach is comfort food turned color. In East Asia the peach is longevity itself — immortals eat them.
