Data Deletion Instructions

At a glance

You have three ways to delete your Legit Lads data. Choose whichever is easiest for you:

1. Delete your account from your dashboard

The fastest way to delete your account is directly from your user dashboard:

1. Log in to your Legit Lads account at legitlads.com/sign-in.
2. Navigate to your Dashboard → Edit Profile → Delete Account, or visit legitlads.com/dashboard/edit-profile/delete-account directly.
3. Read the deletion warning carefully.
4. Type DELETE into the confirmation field to verify you understand the action is permanent.
5. Click "Permanently Delete My Account".
6. You will receive an email confirmation. Your account and personal data are removed from our live systems immediately; see §6 for backup retention timing.

2. Delete your data via email request

If you cannot log in, have forgotten your password, or prefer a manual request:

1. Email privacy@legitlads.com from the email address associated with your account.
2. Use the subject line: "Data Deletion Request".
3. In the body, include:
   • Your account email address (if different from the sender)
   • Your username or display name, if you remember it
   • Your Facebook User ID, if you signed in with Facebook and it is visible to you
   • Any specific data you want preserved (for example, published contributor articles — see §5)
4. We will acknowledge your request within 72 hours and confirm completion within 30 days, in line with GDPR Article 12.
5. We may need to verify your identity before acting on the request. We will ask only for the minimum information necessary for verification.

3. Facebook login users

If you created your Legit Lads account using Sign in with Facebook, you have two options. Both will delete the data Legit Lads received from Facebook.

3.1 Option A — Remove via your Facebook settings (recommended)

This is the official Facebook-supported process. It triggers our automated data deletion callback.

1. Log in to your Facebook account.
2. Go to Settings & Privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites, or visit facebook.com/settings?tab=applications directly.
3. Under "Active", find Legit Lads in the list.
4. Click Remove (or the ✕ icon next to the app name).
5. In the confirmation dialog, tick "Delete all posts, photos and videos on Facebook that Legit Lads might have posted on your behalf", then click Remove.
6. Facebook will notify us automatically. We will delete the Facebook-linked portion of your Legit Lads profile (name, email, profile image, Facebook User ID) within 30 days.
7. You will receive a confirmation code and a status URL where you can check the progress of your request — see §4.

3.2 Option B — Delete directly from Legit Lads

Log in to Legit Lads (using Facebook or your password) and follow the self-service steps in §1. This deletes your full Legit Lads account regardless of how you signed up.

4. Check the status of your deletion request

When Facebook sends us a deletion request, we reply with a unique confirmation code and a status URL. Both are also sent to the email on your Legit Lads account.

To check the status of an ongoing deletion request, visit:

Replace YOUR_CONFIRMATION_CODE with the code we sent you. The status page will show one of:

• Received — we have your request and will start processing it shortly.
• In progress — deletion is running. Usually completes within a few minutes.
• Completed — your data has been deleted from live systems. Backups will purge within 60 days (see §6).
• Not found — the code is invalid or the request has expired. Email privacy@legitlads.com.

6. How long deletion takes

For requests received via Facebook's Data Deletion Callback, we comply with Facebook's Platform Policy and complete the deletion within 30 days.

This endpoint:

• Accepts POST requests with a signed_request body parameter
• Validates the signature using HMAC-SHA256 with our Facebook App Secret
• Extracts the user_id from the decoded payload
• Queues deletion of all personal data tied to that Facebook User ID
• Returns JSON with url and confirmation_code per Facebook's specification

9.4 Deletion SLA

Live systems: within 24 hours of callback receipt. Backups purge within 60 days. Full compliance with Meta Platform Terms and GDPR Article 17.
